Aloha Friday

Sleeping Beauty has her good nights and her bad nights. Two nights ago was a good night. After a little trouble getting her to stay asleep, from 10:00 pm on, she slept through the night.

Last night was a bad night. I was up with her 3 times last night. I'm hoping it's just her tooth. Hoping...

So, here are my questions: How old were your babies when they slept through the night consistently? And how did you get them to do so?

Cinderella was 11 months old. She only woke up because her diaper was soaking wet and she couldn't stand it. We solved that by using a bigger diaper.

Sleeping Beauty is 8 1/2 months old and is showing no signs of sleeping through the night consistently.

Thanks for your input!

  1. Abby was 14 months old. She always woke up at least once a night before that. Hannah slept through from the time she was around 4-5 months old, I think. Becca was probably around 7-8 months, I think...

  2. I hope this doesn't make you hate me... our boys slept through the night at about 3 months. However, I didn't get to nurse them and I think that formula fed babies can sleep through the night sooner than nursing ones. We did it by slowly weaning them off each night time feeding until we were down to one or two ounces at a time... hardly worth the effort to wake them up to feed it to them. Good luck with this... a full night's sleep is important for mommy!

(And I have to admit... my husband was instrumental in this. I could have gone on with night feedings for a while, but he couldn't handle how much sleep he was losing. As the sole income earner, he trumped.)

  3. I'm afraid if I tell you the god honest truth, you'll consider selling your kids on ebay.

  4. Please don't hate me... our daughter started sleeping through the night at 2 1/2 months. And I don't know how that happened. We didn't try anything. She is now almost 8 months old and usually sleeps 10 hours straight. But she is teething too, so not always. I nurse her to sleep and then lay her down. If she wakes and cries (a lot), then one of us will go in and rock her back to sleep.

I am very thankful that she is such a good sleeper. Good luck!

  6. It's 4:30am and I am up because my 2 year old grand daughter is sleeping in my bed. I've been awake for two hours and am heading back to bed however...I'm hoping I won't get squeezed out of my bed again. How much room does an itty bitty girl need?

Now, my babies just slept through the night. The boys were 3 or four months old and Britt was a month. That girl loved her sleep from the get go. She would sleep 12 hours regardless of what time she went down for the night.

  7. I know I'm a little late. Max started sleeping through the night at 7 months, which was when I stopped co-sleeping and moved him to my bed. Jessamine didn't do it until just over two, when I moved her into her own bed out of mine. Don't know if you're co-sleeping at night. But the key for me once I moved them to their own beds was not responding right away if they'd wake up. If I waited, they'd generally go back to sleep on their own after a minute or two.

  8. I believe they were both younger than a year. I was very lucky!

    Sorry I'm so late!

  9. I SO SO SO feel your pain. My baby is 18 months old and I am still fighting with her. I've tried every trick in the book. I'm just a very very tired Mama. My 4 1/2 year old started sleeping through the night at 10 months. The trick? We took out the nightlight. Unfortunately that hasn't worked for the baby. NOTHING works. Oh, unless I bring her to my bed, but it doesn't change how often she wakes, just how often she cries. arggghh!!!

I hope you find something that works for you.
