The Trial of the Century

Well, not really, but it sure feels that way to Prince Charming.

You see, he's on jury duty this week. And next week. And possibly a few days into the week after that, which also happens to be spring break out here.

Sucks!

So, Prince Charming has been in court all week, and I have been laughing my head all week about it. Every time I think about him sitting in that courtroom, I start to giggle.

Like right now!

I don't know why I find it so funny. It's a doozie of a case; nothing to laugh about.

It's a murder trial. (Did that just send shivers up your spine? It did mine.)

The hardest part is that we can't talk about it. He hears what's going on in the courtroom, I read about what goes on when the jury is dismissed, and we can't discuss anything.

It still makes me laugh, though.

I think I laugh because it seems like Prince Charming was so meant to serve on this jury. He showed up for jury selection on Monday, the potential jurors' numbers were shuffled around, and Prince Charming ends up being number 3.

Number 3. Out of 60+ people. *ha ha ha!*

There was an error somewhere in the numbering, so the numbers were shuffled around again. Prince Charming had just enough time to whisper to his neighbor, "What are the odds that we end up in the top 10 again?" when his number was called.

Number 5. *har har har!*

The person next to him? Number 60. *snicker!*

So, needless to say, with his charming good looks, innocent face, impeccable profession, and rational mind, Prince Charming made the jury. They barely even questioned him! *snort!*

This has totally made my week! I don't know why I think it's so funny, but I really just can't stop laughing about it. And everyone I tell starts laughing about it, too.

Not only is the trial of the century in our household, it's the joke of the year!

Prince Charming has jury duty! *giggle!*

My Paper World, Sketch #6

Nicola over at My Paper World does a sketch challenge every 2 weeks. I stumbled across her site too late to join the last sketch, but I made a card in time for this one.

This is my entry (again, bad picture; I should try the scanner next time):

The ballerina is from Paper Salon and the alphabet from Hero Arts(?).

I made this for Cinderella's 4th birthday, which is next week.

What do you think?

Pepe le P.U.

Prince Charming (ha ha!) just got sprayed (tee hee!) by a skunk! (snort!)

He was closing the blinds in our bedroom this evening, when all of a sudden he smelled IT.

All he can figure is that some young punk of a skunk had the audacity to be nosing around our back patio and felt threatened when he saw Prince Charming. Through the glass. Double-paned, I might add.

I suppose this skunk may have caught wind of Prince Charming's own stench he had just left in the bathroom and felt threatened that his skunk funk wouldn't be on par. Maybe he felt he had to reassert his dominance in the animal kingdom as one of the smelliest (if not THE smelliest of) animals in existence.

I suppose it's possible. Prince Charming can be rather stinky at times...

Regardless, my house now positively reeks of skunk spray, not to mention the other nasty smell emanating from the bathroom.

Baby Alert

This is a test of the Emergency Baby Alert system.

This is only a test.

**********
Cinderella came running into the bathroom this morning while I was getting ready yelling, "Baby alert! Baby alert!"

I totally panicked, thinking, Sleeping Beauty's choking! She's stuck! She's loose! She's eating cat food!

Cinderella then informed me, "She's pushing buttons on the stereo."

"Oh. That's okay," I replied. "Just make sure the TV's off."

**********
This has been a test of the Emergency Baby Alert system.

This was only a test.

If this had been a real emergency, no instructions would have followed. You would have been on your own. Good luck.

Party Hardy, Bloggers!

Ultimate Blog Party 2008

Welcome! This is my blog. So exciting, I know.

I am the mother to two self-proclaimed princesses, but I'm Not the Queen. The closest I get to being the Queen is being dubbed "The Bad Stepmother" by my almost-four-year-old who claims she's Cinderella. She tells us, daily, that doesn't like her given name, so please call her Cinderella, thank you very much.

Many days we oblige; some days we don't.

I blog about daily life, random musings, becoming a math teacher (ack!?!), and whatever else pops into my head.

I don't really have any direction; I'm still kind of new to this.

And cards. I love to make cards! Check here for some of my designs. I love to give them away, too.

Anyway, look around, check things out, and have a blast! If you want to know more about me or my family, check my sidebar.

Thanks for stopping by!

And make sure you check out the other mommy bloggers at 5 Minutes for Mom. It is a party, after all.

Don't forget about the prizes! These are my favorites:
*24 Blog design--I need this desperately!
*45 Blog design--ditto!
*119 This gorgeous lunchbox!
*Also 50, 76, 85, 90, 97, 34, 117, 39, and 60.

Three Days Does Not a Habit Make

...but it sure is a nice start!

Someone in my house, who may or may not be a little girl, may or may not be creating two new good habits that may or may not be related to sleeping.

I don't want to jinx anything, so that's all I'm going to say.

Let's just say my evenings have been more peaceful with more time to myself. Let's also just say that I've been getting more sleep at night.

That's it. My lips are now sealed...

Compliments of Cinderella

Cinderella just sang a song and danced a dance for me. Here are the lyrics:

"You have to have jewels on your feet
And high and a lowly sky
You do ballet because everything you wanna know
you will know how to do
My daaauuughteeer!
Ta da! That was it!"

This is song number two:

Cuckoo Clock

"Because this is not an important jewel
Because of this you might love to do a wonderful time of change
Because of this you actually meet this singing song
Because of this you're my daddy
Because of this little cuckooooooo"

Guess who walked in the door during song number 2?

Snape and Sensibility

Over the weekend, I finally watched Sense and Sensibility. Considering I love all things Austen, I'm surprised it too me this long to watch it. The movie's been out for almost ten years, for goodness' sake!

While I loved the movie and thought it followed the book very well, I couldn't help singing this song throughout the entire thing:

Every time Colonel Brandon came on the screen I kept singing, to myself and out loud (much to the consternation of Prince Charming, who actually watched the movie with me), "Snape, Snape, Severus Snape."

Professor Snape in a Jane Austen. Who knew?

To the End of Term I Say, "Farewell!"

Goodbye, term. You are over and done with. And honestly, I didn't expect to get through you. I thought you'd win; I expected you to crush me, but you didn't. I had too much ground to cover in too short a time, but I did it, and I won, not you. Neener, neener, neener!

Math limits: you were tough, but I conquered you. Ha!

Diversity: you were boring, but necessary. I'm sure I'll see you again, though.

Human Development: same to you.

Statistics: we're old friends, you and I. We get along fabulously; we understand each other. Everyone doubted us, but we pulled through without a hitch. Baby, we're going all the way!

**********

Here's what I learned last term:

*If I write a paper, it will go through within 2 days, full credit, highest marks.

*If I have math work (except statistics), it will take 7 or 8 days for the grader to get it back to me. I will have corrections to make from comments I don't understand. I will resubmit the work within 2 days, and it will take another 7 to 8 days to get it back. I will again have corrections to make from more comments I don't understand. I will again resubmit the work within 2 days, and it will take yet another 7 to 8 days to get it back. This time I know it's coming back again with even more comments I don't understand, so I haunt the website where the grading is posted. After 5 days I get antsy. After 7 to 8 days I get my paper back, full credit, highest marks. Huh?!?

That's it; that's what I learned.

Well, that and some math and some diversity and some human development.
