Mama Wants Her Body Back--Review and Giveaway

This mama has had three kids, and this mama's body has never been the same since. Some things stretched, some things grew, and some things will just never be the same.

However, this mama can (and will) get her body back, just not her original pre-E body.

And so can you!

Mama Wants Her Body Back was developed by Lisa Druxman, a mom who has been in the fitness industry for 20 years. Lisa designed this series workouts specifically for moms, targeting our specific problem areas, and working with our busy schedules.

The Product

"Mama Wants Her Body Back is a series of three 20-minute total body workouts...Each 20-minute workout consists of 5 mini workout rounds. These rounds contain the three key elements that every mom needs in their workout to get her body back--cardio, strength and core. These workouts are specifically targeted for a mom's body and a mom's time. If we can endure the labor of childbirth, then mama--you can truly do anything!"

My Review

I just tried this workout this morning, and I have to say I like it. There are no routines, nothing complicated. Each workout round consists of one minute of cardio, one minute of strength, and one minute of core. Within each minute, three different levels are introduced (low, medium, and high) and are each done twice for ten seconds at a time (10 seconds low, 10 seconds medium, 10 second high, repeat). This is a very doable format!

There are always three moms demonstrating the workouts, too; one (Lisa) does the basic workout, one does an easier, modified workout, and one does a harder, modified workout. This program is definitely designed for all levels!

And, seriously, who can't find 20 minutes?

The only thing I didn't like about the program (and it's a totally personal thing) is that it uses a resistance tube. I suck at the resistance tube! Even after years of playing volleyball, I just don't have the upper body strength to use the tube. Weights I'm fine with, but a tube! Blech! I know using one regularly will increase my strength, so I will. But grumblingly. :)

I'm definitely going to be using this program in the future. Care to join me?

Win It!

Mama Wants Her Body Back has generously offered another copy to one of you! Just leave a comment, any old comment, here or on FB (I'll post over there, too) and you are entered to win! U.S. only, though. Sorry!

Sorry, no extra entries; I don't like extra entries.

I will close comments on Monday, December 6 at 8:00pm PST and announce a winner then. Good luck! And mama, you can get your body back!!!

This post was written for Family Review Network and Mama Wants Her Body Back who provided this complimentary product for review and giveaway in return for my honest opinion.

Ultimate Blog Party, 2009

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

Welcome! Thank you for partying with me!

If you stick around long enough (just until the end of this post), I'll have a game for you to play. There will definitely be a winner, and a prize, but we'll talk about this more in just a minute. Let me introduce myself first.

Hi! I'm Hillary, aka H.K., aka Not the Queen.

I live in Washington State, have been a SAHM for 2 years now, and was a teacher (though I didn't have my certificate). I am currently working on getting my certification in math education. I am a math nerd and a grammar snob. I love to make cards, cook/bake, and camp. I went to an all-girls' school in high school, then on to WWU to major in Sociology and minor in French.

Was that random enough for you?

This is my family.

Prince Charming. Not the most dashing picture, but he's hunky, trust me.

Cinderella. She's a cheese. She turns 5 on Sunday.

Sleeping Beauty. She is the biggest goof, and not very photogenic at times. That's her brother's hat on her head. Sleeping Beauty will be 2 in May.

The Little Prince. He is my big chunk-of-love. He was 10 pounds 11 ounces when he was born. He'll be 4 months old at the end of the month.

Well, shall we play a game now?

This is an extended version of Two Truths and a Lie. Each section (in the block quotes) has two truths and one lie. If you've read my blog before, some of these are gimmes. But, since my blog is teeny tiny, I'm not too worried about that, and neither should you be.

If you want to play along, just leave your guesses in the comments section. Let me know which one of each group you think is the lie.

That's it!

For the prize, well, I mentioned above that I like to make cards. I will make the winner an entire year's worth of cards. Holidays, birthdays, anniversary, etc.

How does that sound?

Are you ready to play? Okay. Here we go!

Starting with dentistry and orthodonture:

I had braces twice.

I've never had a cavity.

I wore my retainer in college.

Moving on to travel:

I have never been to Mexico.

I won a trip to Disneyland.

I went to the Caribbean for my honeymoon.

Heading into haircare:

I have never colored my hair.

I have never permed my hair.

I have never plucked my eyebrows.

Detouring towards education:

I have taught English.

I have taught music.

I have taught science.

And ending with musicality:

I have taken singing lessons.

I have taken piano lessons.

I have taken guitar lessons.

Okay! That's it! If you want to know the answers, check back in at the end of the party. I'll get a hold of the winner when the blog party is over, so make sure I have a way to contact you if you don't have a blog.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit here! Come back again sometime; I love to entertain!

Party Hearty!

Oh! And the prizes! These are my faves: USC 58, 41, 28, 76, USC 11, USC 45, USC 16, 106, 71, USC 2, 75, 19, 21, 22, 75, 122, and 65.

First Five

I've seen this around Facebook, but officially stole it from Twinmommy.

**********

This is open to anyone who reads my blog!

The first FIVE people to respond to this post will get something made by little ol' me!

I get to chose what it is, and make it just for YOU!

However, this offer does have some restrictions and limitations.

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make (although I'm hoping you do!).

2. What I create will be original and just for you.

3. It will be done this year (before December 31, 2009!)

4. You have no clue what it's going to be (but it will be handmade).

There is one little catch. You must re-post this on YOUR blog or Facebook, or wherever, and make the same offer to the first 5 people who respond on your entry, thereby continuing the fun.

The first 5 people to leave a comment telling me they will be posting this will win a special something made by me.

Be sure to post a picture of your handmade prize when you get it! And maybe some linky love, too.

I'm really quite crafty, when I choose to be. I'm also a pretty good cook, if I do say so myself. Just a little incentive...

Psst!

Have you heard? Christmas is coming!

Normally, I wouldn't have anything to do with Christmas until after Thanksgiving, but with the baby due in 9 days, I've had to reassess my convictions.

In fact, I'm done with my Christmas shopping. (*blushing from embarrassment*)

Now that I've confessed, let's move on, shall we?

The fabulous twins at 5 Minutes for Mom are hosting their annual Christmas Giveaway during the month of November.

Christmas Giveaway Sleigh 240x240

They have tons of giveaways lined up, so go check them out! Click the sleigh up above to see a list of current giveaways, but make sure you check back every day.

Good luck!

100th Post Celebration and Giveaway (Closed)

The winner of the booklet is: Don and Lisa Osborn!

The winner of the card for most seasons is: Richelle!

Congratulations!

**********

Finally! I reached 100 posts yesterday! It took me long enough.

So, in honor of this being my 101st post, I thought I'd celebrate by doing another giveaway.

Yes, it's cards again, but not the ones posted here.

I've been cleaning out my card stash, so this time I have 2 things to give away:

*The first would make a perfect gift for someone. It's a little booklet that contains 4 blank cards with envelopes:

Now, in all honesty, I did not design this. I assembled most of it, stamped it, and colored it; but it is not a Not-the-Queen original. It is beautiful though, don't you think?

*The second thing I'm giving away is a set of cards for all most seasons. Again, I did not design most of the cards, but a few of them I did. I did, however, make them all with my own two hands. I don't have pictures to show you, but if you like these cards, you'll like this set, too.

It contains cards (and envelopes) for 3 birthdays, Easter, Halloween, a wedding, a baby (gender neutral), Mother's Day, Father's Day, and card to let someone know you're thinking of them.

I always keep a stash of cards on hand, but I find myself constantly making new cards and ignoring the old ones.

Lucky you!

To win either of these, simply leave me a comment. There will be 2 winners, one for each giveaway, so let me know which one (or both) you'd like to be entered in. I'll close this giveaway at 5pm PST Saturday, February 2nd. US and Canada only, please.

Bloggy Giveaways Carnival (CLOSED)

And the winner is: #139--Maren of The Secret Stitch Club! Congratulations!
**********

Yea! I love giveaways!

Once again, I am giving away some of my handmade cards. Fifteen, to be exact. One winner will receive all 15.

And, here they are (the pictures don't really do them justice):

They are all thank you cards, and I will include envelopes.

Just leave a comment. Any comment, but only one comment. Maybe tell me which one is your favorite? I'm curious to know what you all think about my creations.

I will ship to the US and Canada. Just make sure I can find your email address somewhere.

I will close this contest at 5pm PST on Friday, February 1st.

Good luck!

I have even more cards up for grabs here.

Finally!

I have been waiting impatiently all week for Marie to get her cards (are the pictures not working again?) in the mail. I wanted to post some pictures of what I made, but I didn't want to spoil the surprise for her.

Finally, they have arrived!

And here are a few of my favorites:

Again, the picture quality isn't that great. I could really use a scanner!

A couple of the cards are variations of cards I have designed before, but most of them I really and truly designed just for Marie.

Sometime after the New Year, Rocks in my Dryer will be hosting another giveaway carnival. Stay tuned, because I made double of everything I made for Marie (with some slight variations), and I will be giving away 20 more cards, including the ones pictured here.

So, what do you think?
